Terms and license

Last updated October 22, 2026

Plain words, no tricks. These terms cover buying a license, using Utter and getting a refund.

Your license

When you buy Utter you get a license to use it, not ownership of the software. Each license works on the number of Macs shown on the plan you bought.

A license for a single person is for you alone. A team license may be shared among people in your organization, as long as the total number of active Macs stays within its limit.

Updates

Every license includes free updates for the period shown at checkout, usually one year. Once that period ends, every version released during it keeps working forever. You only pay again if you want newer versions.

Free trial

You can use every feature of Utter free for 14 days before you buy. After the trial, dictation stops until you activate a license.

Refunds

If Utter is not right for you, ask for a refund within 14 days of buying and we will refund you in full. Send us a message through the support page with the email you bought with. Once refunded, the license stops working.

Moving and managing Macs

You can move a license to another Mac at any time by deactivating it on the old one in Settings. If you no longer have the old Mac, contact us and we will free up the seat.

What you may not do

  • Share, sell or publish your license key, or use it on more Macs than your plan allows.
  • Copy, modify, reverse engineer or redistribute Utter, except where the law allows it.
  • Work around the license checks or the trial.

When a license ends

We may turn off a license that was refunded, charged back, or used in breach of these terms. We will never turn off a license you paid for and use fairly.

Warranty and liability

We work hard to make Utter reliable, but it is provided as it is, without any warranty. Speech recognition can make mistakes, so always read what it typed before you send anything important. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid for your license.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms from time to time. The version on this page always applies to new purchases. Questions about these terms? Reach us through the support page.
